Do I need a referral?
A medical referral is not required to see any of the Sportreat practitioners unless you are making a claim under Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance, Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) or Veterans Affairs. Private Health Insurance companies do not require a medical referral for physiotherapy, massage therapy, dietetics and exercise physiology. You also do not require a referral to see the Sportreat doctor under Medicare.
Can I make a claim with Medicare for my treatment?
Consultations with the Sportreat doctor/s are claimable under the Medicare system. You cannot make a claim under Medicare for services provided by any of the other Sportreat practitioners, unless you have been referred under an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan by your General Practitioner.
Can I claim under private health insurance for my treatment?
Allied Health Services (physiotherapy, massage, dietetics, exercise physiology) are generally claimable under your Private Health Insurance but will vary depending on the nature of your policy. Please contact your particular health insurer for more details if you are unsure.
How do I pay for my appointment?
Payment is required at the time of your appointment and can be in cash, cheque or electronic funds transfer (EFT). Sportreat also uses the HICAPS system which will allow you to make your claim instantly with most private health insurers.
What happens if I need to cancel my appointment?
In the event that you need to cancel your appointment, please contact us within 24 hours of your appointment time. Sportreat will send you a reminder text message to your mobile phone on the day prior to your appointment. You are able to confirm, cancel or re-schedule your appointment at this time Sportreat reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee in the event that you do not provide 24 hours notice of a cancellation.
What do I need to bring for my first appointment?
Please bring any referrals and test results relating to your injury such as MRI, X-rays, CT scans and ultrasounds and any support splints, braces, orthotics or aids that you may be using to your first appointment. It is also advisable that you bring a list of your current medications particularly if you are taking multiple medications.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Please wear clothing that will allow the practitioner to expose the area that requires treating. If you are seeing the Exercise Physiologist please wear appropriate gym attire. Sportreat has shower and locker facilities on site.
